The First Ever Eco Focussed Rugby Event 'The Big Green Clash" will take place on the 8th September 2024 at Richmond Athletic Ground showcasing the first event of its kind – and shining an important spotlight on how sport can unite to inspire a more eco-friendly and compassionate future.
Backed and sponsored by Entrepreneur and 5 Times World Record Holder Heather Mills and her businesses VBites, Alternative Stores and Be at One.
Sports fan and the world record breaking fastest disabled woman on the planet Heather is excited to be supporting the Green Gazelles and is delighted that 'The Big Green Clash' is championing veganism in such a unique way.
“As someone deeply committed to sustainability and compassionate living, I'm thrilled to back The Big Green Clash. This event is a unique opportunity for us to come together, network, and drive conversations about how sports can lead the way in promoting environmental awareness and positive change.”
Spearheading the event is the world’s first-ever earth friendly and plant-powered rugby team, Green Gazelles Rugby Club, an invitational club with 250+ players who are on a mission to promote sustainability, compassion to animals and raise awareness of environmental issues through their love of rugby.
A rugby battle awaits us between Green Gazelles Rugby and Richmond Rugby; although a friendly fixture, there will be a fierce reputation to be upheld on the pitch with the winning team claiming the Earth Shield presented by Heather Mills.
The Big Green Clash will spark important debate around the environment and sport as prominent environmental, sporting and health enthusiasts will assemble for a Sports Climate Summit prior to kick off.
The event features a family-friendly Eco Village serving delicious food, sustainable items, information stands, artisan treats and more.
A number of ex-pro and celebrity appearances are expected in the Green Gazelles Squad too.
Founder of the Green Gazelles and event organiser, Brendon Bale, wishes to combine the positive focus and community spirit of his club to raise awareness for the environment:
"The Big Green Clash isn't just a rugby match; it's a networking goldmine, with over 100 organisations attending our Sports Climate Summit prior to Kick Off. This unique event brings together passionate environmentalists, pro athletes, and thought leaders, sparking urgent discussions on how sport can inspire a greener future. The event would not be possible without the support from multi-award winning Heather Mills, who will be speaking at the Sports Climate Summit and providing motivation to the Green Gazelles throughout the day.”
The alignment and synergy that the event offers caught the attention of Heather who strongly believes that The Big Green Clash is a springboard to inspire positive change.
“And the further announcement of VBites and Alternative Stores as Official Partners of Green Gazelles Rugby Club is just the start of an exciting journey.”
