It's always a joy to pop over to tibits and have a good chat with Edmund the super manager and enjoy their gorgeous all veggie buffet boat! So I was thrilled to be invited to the launch of their
stunning new recipe book too - A Vegan Love Story and taste a few of the recipes from the book too. I took my friend - super food guru and TV presenter Rick Hay, we sat next to a lovely vegan couple (a magazine publisher and a lawyer) and sat across from the stunning vegan actress Nathalie Emmanuel who turns out to be one of the stars in Game of Thrones.
Topping the super night off was seeing Reto Frei and Rolf Hiltl the owners from Zurich.
“Like their restaurants, tibits’ and Hiltl’s new cookbook showcases a huge range of original and tasty veggie dishes. With ingredients and flavours from around the world, Vegan Love Story provides lots of inspiration to eat meat free!” said Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney, on behalf of Meat Free Monday.
A Vegan Love Story is a collection of indulgent recipes from around the world, beautifully illustrated from the team behind London’s most respected Vegetarian & Vegan restaurant, tibits.
It began with a partnership. Two families, three brothers, one dream; opening a modern and chic vegetarian restaurant serving delicious, healthy food in a relaxed atmosphere.
So the history….
Enter the Hiltls, a swiss-based family who pioneered Vegetarianism over a century ago as a consequence of family patriarch, Ambrosius Hiltl, being struck by illness and having to adapt his diet to be meat-free to aid recovery.
Results were impressive, Hiltl was cured and the oldest vegetarian restaurant was established in Zurich. Four generations later, the Hiltls partnered up with entrepreneurial brothers Reto, Christian and Daniel Frei to create tibits restaurant.
Fifteen successful years ensued, with tibits ever expanding to include seven further vegetarian and vegan restaurants across London and Switzerland, reshaping and modernizing the vegetarian cuisine scene. Proving its reputation as a guilt free eatery, tibits offers a comprehensive menu that changes daily, with dishes inspired from the Mediterranean through to Asia, all produced with largely organic and all GM-free ingredients.
So the next chapter….
Proving that going vegan doesn’t mean compromising on taste, Vegan Love Story, a collection of eighty most coveted and mouth-watering recipes is the latest offering from the team.
