I agree

Perhaps set up a free online social network using a technology like Ning.

Also, from over here in California I have a book rec.
....
that's a hit with non-vegetarians like me,
long-time vegans - and those in between:

How to Eat Like a Vegetarian, Even If You Never Want To Be One
More than 250 Shortcuts, Strategies, and Simple Solutions

It is by Carol Adams & Pattie Breitman - a trailblazer in touting the health and social justice values of being a vegetarian

Because Breitman was also was an agent for such best-selling authors as John Robbins (Diet for a New America)
and John Gray (Men Are From Mars...) she is beloved in the book world too

She lives near San Francisco in my county, Marin.

See

Vegan Gail Davis wrote, "I've been vegan for almost 30 years, and I teach others how to prepare delicious vegan fare, so when I first came across the title of this book I thought, "sounds great, but it's not for me." Well, never judge a book by its cover, or its title! Authors Carol J. Adams and Patti Breitman have so thoroughly jam-packed this wonderful book with useful information and time-saving tips, I wish'd they'd written it decades sooner, as it would have saved me countless hours in the market and the kitchen. It just goes to show that no matter how much you know about something, there's always so much more to learn."
